ACCA F9 Financial Management Syllabus

The F9 Financial Management exam is one of the six papers that need to be completed within the 'Skills' module. The 'Skills' module is the second and final module at the Fundamentals level.

In order to proceed to the next level, 'Professional', all exams must be successfully completed. However please note that exams do not need to taken in any specific order (e.g. F5 can be completed first followed by F4, F6 and so on).

The aim of the F9 exam is to develop the knowledge and skills expected of a finance manager, in relation to investment, financing, and dividend policy decisions.

ACCA F9 Exam Capabilities  

The outcomes of the F9 exam for students will be:

1. Discussing the role and purpose of the financial management function

2. Assessing and discussing the impact of the economic environment on financial management

3. Discussing and applying working capital management techniques

4. Carrying out effective investment appraisal

5. Identifying and evaluating alternative sources of business finance

6. Discussing and applying principles of business and asset valuations

7. Explaining and applying risk management techniques in business

ACCA F9 Exam Format and Structure

  • A 3 hour 15 minute exam (Paper based exams from September 2016 onwards)
  • A pass mark of 50%
  • All questions are compulsory
  • Section A of the exam comprises 15 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each
  • Section B of the exam comprises three scenarios consisting of 15 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each
  • Section C contains two 20 mark questions
